Styles and Smiles opened in September of 2016 and                        has seen much growth and change since                       then! Thanks for voting us Idaho's Best                           Hair Salon in Eastern Idaho for 2022 and                     2023! We love the support we receive                                  from the community as a small, locally                           owned business.  We hope to stay for a             long time and become a local favorite!

STYLIST BIOS

JANA BAKE

Owner/Lead Stylist

6641-1AJ.jpg

I was one of those girls that planned ahead for my future.  I knew I wanted to do hair and be a mom.  I loved braiding my older sisters’ hair when I was young, then experimenting with my own and my friends’ hair in high school.  I would cut my hair nearly every night depending on how I wanted it to look the next day!  I’ve always loved hair, and knew it was something I would enjoy forever.  I always planned to do beauty school before I had kids, which I did.  I finished 2 ½ weeks before having my first baby to be exact, but I finished!

Something that sets me apart from other hairdressers is that I’m a mom to 8 little kids, so I understand the “mom guilt” of spending time and money on yourself.  But I also know how important it is to feel good about yourself instead of losing your own identity and just becoming “mom.”  I spent many years as a stay at home, homeschooling mom; most of those years struggling to make ends meet.  I understand how we become lower on the list of priorities than many other things, but having a fresh color and a simple to style new cut can make a huge difference in our mental well-being!  I get the need for a balance between functional (ponytails and mom buns for the win!) and stylish.  I love helping women learn to love their hair again, especially when they didn’t think it was possible.

I was born and raised here in Rexburg, then moved to Utah as a teenager.  After high school, I was a nanny in Germany, then came back to Rexburg to attend BYU-Idaho where I met my husband.  I took a break for beauty school and to get married, then went back to college while pregnant with my second baby.  I graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Child Development when my fourth baby was a year old.  When pregnant with my fifth baby, I started homeschooling.  While pregnant with my sixth, I opened the salon.  Needless to say, I’m a bit crazy and like to stay busy!

SIERRAH MITCHELL

Stylist

I was born and raised in Missouri.  After going on a mission to Utah, I went back and lived there and attended cosmetology school there. While going to school, I met my husband and got married, then came to Rexburg so he could attend school.  I have been licensed since 2020 and have worked in salons in both Utah and Idaho.

I love doing nails, colors, and women's cuts. I also work at a professional beauty supply, so I know a lot about the products we use and can answer any questions you have about product recommendations.

I can't wait to meet you and give you a fabulous look you deserve!

LYNDSY MOULTON

Barber Stylist

6635-1AJ.jpg

Hey y’all! I’m Lyndsy Moulton and I moved here in 2020 from Southeast Texas. Cutting hair wasn’t my original plan; I wanted to be an agricultural teacher. Traditional college wasn’t as hands-on as I wanted it to be. I knew I wanted to be in a profession where I got to meet new people and make connections. I also love making people feel good about themselves. I toured a hair school just out of curiosity and knew it was what I wanted to do right away. Being a Barber Stylist has helped me to let out my creativity, help people feel good about themselves, and meet so many amazing individuals. As a Barber Stylist, I am trained and certified in everything a Barber is, as well as a Cosmetologist, except for doing nails and makeup.

I’m a melting pot of personality traits and hobbies. I like to call myself an introverted extrovert. I love to fly fish and hike. I also love staying in and reading a good book and baking/cooking. One of my favorite things to do is to be with my family, whether we’re playing a board game or watching a movie. I have a deep love for agricultural advocacy and FFA. I’m also a total geek for Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.

When I have a client in my chair my top priority (besides giving them the results that they want) is for them to feel comfortable and relaxed. I love to take the average service and customize it to fit the wants of my client. If the outcome isn’t achievable due to contraindications, then I always want to find a “plan B” so that you leave happy and satisfied.

If you would like to see my work or would like to contact me personally my instagram is @pearl.the.stylist; feel free to reach out! I would love for you to book with me and I look forward to meeting you!

GINA OOSTVEEN

Stylist

I was born and raised in Utah. In 2017, I moved to Rexburg with my 4 amazing kids (2 girls, 2 boys). They keep me on my toes, but I wouldn't have it any other way! Now that my kids are bigger, I decided to do something to further my career and went back to school to get my cosmetology license.

I graduated from Paul Mitchell in 2021. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I enjoy all that my cosmetology license covers. I'm always learning something new and creative. I'm constantly looking to further my education. I'm excited to come to work and meet new people. I put all my effort into my relationship with my client.

Something that sets me apart from other stylists is my demeanor. I'm very compassionate, kind and willing to listen. I will hear your concerns and am willing to work together on a look you will love. I have lots of life experience working with children, especially high anxiety/extra challenges. I'm willing to take to extra time to set a good pace to make this a great no stress experience.

I'm ready to be busy and add more clientele to my schedule. I look forward to you sitting in my chair and making it a great day!

MALISSA MELINE

Stylist

Hi! My name is Malissa Meline. I'm from Declo, Idaho, and I've been a cosmetologist for almost 3 years. Growing up, my mom was a cosmetologist, so the smell of perms and acrylic nails were something I grew up knowing. Cosmetology allows me to bring out my creativity!

I specialize in all types of haircuts, builder gel nail sets, and perms!

I love working on kids even, if they don't like me working on them! I am super patient and try my best to make sure that your kids have a fun and safe experience while at our salon!  I am an easy listener, and I love to have long conversations. I am a thorough communicator, so I will always try my best to give you the best results! I have a passion for music, so we can listen to anything you'd like to listen to.

Book with me now to have an amazing experience at our salon!
